                                                                             P-EBT Update:
New Mexico received approval for Fall P-EBT benefits. Due to the high demand for P-EBT cards, there will be a delay in the mailing of approximately 72,000 cards. Households who received their Spring P-EBT issuance on their normal SNAP EBT card will receive their Fall P-EBT benefit on a new P-EBT card. Cards will be mailed to these households in late October 2020. Thank you for your patience.

The New Mexico Human Services Department will host two virtual community forums to discuss the plan to support continued services for the community in Lordsburg, New Mexico and the surrounding area of Hidalgo County.

Extension of emergency SNAP benefits for January 2021

SANTA FE – New Mexico households receiving Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) food benefits will receive the maximum amount for their household size for the month of January as the state continues its response to the COVID-19 pandemic, announced the New Mexico Human Services Department.

New Mexico provides $5.3 million in energy assistance paid directly to utility vendors for qualifying low income households | $300 one-time lump sum payments for those behind on utility payments

SANTA FE – The New Mexico Human Services Department received $5.3 million from the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, & Economic Security Act (CARES Act). A one-time $300 payment will be provided to utility vendors for households that received a Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) payment and are at least one month behind in their utility payments. LIHEAP is a program that assists approximately 70,000 New Mexico households with their home heating and cooling costs.

$7 million in financial relief funds for New Mexico low income households - 15,118 households to receive $465

SANTA FE – More than 15,000 low-income New Mexico households this week began receiving a one-time payment of $465 in emergency financial assistance under a program administered by the New Mexico Human Services Department in partnership with the state Taxation and Revenue Department.
